Arthur Bingham Layne

Arthur B. Layne, age 75, of Cullen Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013. Arthur lived life, loved life and shared life! After graduating from Randolph-Henry High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following, he became a pilot and taught several years at Randolph-Henry. He became a building contractor and a farmer growing tobacco, vegetables and tended cattle. He sold vegetables at the Lynchburg City Market for 30 years. He was a man who cared for all and had a big heart. Arthur was preceded in death by his father Rasha Layne, Sr.; his mother Mary B. Layne, brother Rasha Layne, Jr; sister-in-law Virginia Layne and Step-son Stedman Gray. He is survived by wife Margaret Gray Layne and the mother of his children Carolyn Sue Layne of South Hill; his daughter Mary Layne Keifer and husband Tom of Charlotte NC, his son Edward Layne and wife Sharon of Cullen, VA; his son Thomas Tommy Layne of South Hill, VA; Stepchildren Angela Barbour and husband Chris of Gladstone, VA and Charles Gray Jr. of Texas. Grandchildren: Katie Keifer, Michael Keifer, Adam Layne, Joseph Layne, Christopher Layne and Macy Layne. Step-grandchildren: Zac Barbour, Nick Barbour, Anna Gray and Christine Gray.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, in the Cullen Volunteer Fire Department, with interment to follow in Cullen Baptist Church Cemetery, Cullen, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cullen Volunteer Fire Department. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
