Betty Hicks Church

d. April 1, 2024

Betty Hicks Church, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 1, 2024. Betty was born to Noah Aquila and Mary Meadows Hicks on November 10, 1938. She was preceded in death by three great-grandchildren, Aubrey Michael and Adaline Belle Church and Madison Hope Blount; her parents; and her brothers, Edward “Bootsie,” Rhesa, Linwood, Willie, Bennie Lee, Lonnie B. and Billy Ray Hicks.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Freddie James Church; son Mike (Audrey), son Larry “Pete”; four grandchildren, Sam Church (Alice), Chelsie Novitske (Dylan), Chris Miller (Brittany), Amanda Blount (Mark); six great-grandchildren, Lily, Levi, Kaylee, Hannah, Sawyer, and Aubree; brother, Raymond Hicks; and sisters, Lucy Evans and Edith Martin.

Betty was a lifelong member of Keysville United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and Granny, a meticulous housekeeper, seamstress and an amazing cook. Betty proudly spent thirty-six years in her salon, Betty’s Beauty Shop, doing many clips and curls. Outside of her salon, she would often be found in the stands cheering on her grandchildren at all their ball games and recitals. Her greatest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, and she would take any opportunity to brag about how much she loved them.
