Boyd Donell Nelson

Boyd Donell Nelson, 78, of Keysville VA, went to be with the Lord June 18, 2019. Mr. Nelson passed away in the care of McGuire VA Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Boyd was born March 9, 1941, in Charlotte County VA. His parents were the late Henry Boyd Nelson and Josephine Nelson, formally Gibson. He was married to his first wife, now Ann Browning having three children: Gordon Boyd Nelson, son, Melissa Nelson Duffey, daughter and John William Nelson, son. Mr. Nelson served our country in the US Army from 1960 to 1963, with an honorable discharge. Boyd was a well known contractor for many years as he owned Nelson’s Building and Supply from the mid 70’s to the early 2000’s. Boyd modeled to his family how to work hard and provide and care for what God has given. He is survived by his three children, Gordon, Melissa and John William; son-in-law, Jeff Duffey; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Nelson; grandchildren- Jefferson Duffey, Alex Duffey, Harley Grace Nelson and Briella Faith Nelson; sisters- the late Roberta DeWesse, the late JoAnne Bray and Brenda Crist; with one brother, the late Gary Nelson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, in the Eureka Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home of Keysville, VA is serving the family.
