Douglas Mcarthur Maxwell

Douglas McArthur Maxwell, age 78, of Saxe, Virginia, a retired barber in Halifax, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Doug was predeceased by his parents, G. C. and Lucille Maxwell, his brothers, Forrest, Junior, Joseph and sisters, Marie and Virginia.  Doug served in the National Guard Reserve and was a barber for over fifty years. He loved turkey hunting, bluegrass music and dancing.  Doug is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Joeann L. Maxwell, brothers, Wilbur, Barry, Robert and Tom Maxwell and a sister, Mary Layne.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Southall Memorial Church, Saxe, Virginia with a private family service to follow on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Saxe Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m., on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, VA.  Due to COVID restrictions masks and social distancing is required.
