Keysville, VA – Edward “Eddie, Ed” Jay Sharpe, 72, a Marine Vet, died unexpectedly on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024. He was born October 27, 1952, in Statesville, NC, the son of A.Z. and Madeline Hoar Sharpe.
Eddie graduated from Deep Creek High School, class of 1970. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Joyce Black, and they settled in Keysville. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in September. Eddie was a meat cutter, a logger, a deer processor and a great drummer and band member.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Allen Zeb and a sister, Shirley. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ruby Black Sharpe and their dog Penny, are his children, Angela Zee Sharpe Dyer and her husband, Josh, of Keysville, Edward “Bud” Sharpe and his wife, Kelsey, of Salem, AL, and Misty Dawn Sharpe, of Keysville; eight grandchildren , Nathan Sharpe and his wife, Nicky, McKenzie Sharpe, Josh “Bucky Buck” Dyer, Kerstin Dyer, Keegan Sharpe, Paisley Grace Sharpe, Hunter Pennington and Colton Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Negan Sharpe, Dillon Elgin, Fiona Sharpe and Lana Whitaker; one sister, Ruth “Ruthie” Williams, of Keysville; one brother, A.Z. Sharpe and his wife Candy, of Edenton, NC; one brother-in-law, Bobby Dietz (Shirley); nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Band Family.
A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held on November 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at 435 Four Locust Hwy, Keysville, VA. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
