Frances Thomas Bates

Frances Thomas Bates, 94, of Charlotte Court House, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2011. She was the daughter of Robert Herman and Mary Deuel Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Murrie Bates; and survived by her son, W. Murrie Bates, Jr.; nieces, Ann Thomas Moore, Mary Ellen Thomas, and Lucy Bates Ponton.
She has shared God’s love with her many friends through her gift of music, her loving heart, warm smile, and sense of humor. She taught children’s and adult Sunday School, as well as, being her church’s organist for over twenty years.
Frances was active in several civic organizations and loved to play bridge. She will be missed by the many who loved her.
Family visitation will be at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, on Tuesday, August 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at the Charlotte Court House United Methodist Church in Charlotte Court House, VA, on Wednesday, August 3, at 2 p.m.
