Gene Edwin Lyles, age 80, of Keysville, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in the comfort of his home, while his loving wife, Liz, miraculously made it to be by his side as he took his last breath. Gene and Liz were married for over 50 years. As they faced each other’s health situations together, Gene never left Liz’s side. Before he lost his strength, you could find them at the table always sharing a meal together. Gene was always making sure Liz knew he was there by kissing her on her forehead or holding her hand. They were an example of endlessly lasting love, loving one another until he took his last breath. He was born on December 16, 1942. He was the son of the late Arthur E. Lyles and Annie Reamer Lyles of Keysville, Va.
Gene worked at Weavexx for many years. He made many accomplishments in life, one of the most exceptional being that he gave his life to the Lord and was ordained on April 11, 2021. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Gene took pride in his interest in his ham radios.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Leatherwood Lyles, daughter, Sherry Lyles Marker (Daniel), four grandchildren; Stephanie Nelson Ingram (Aaron), Mikaela Nelson Wade (Patrick), Elizabeth Marker Jackson (Chris), Mary Katherine Marker, and eight great-grandchildren; Abigale Grace, Alexis Leanna, Adriana Noelle, Avarie Faith, Adalie May, Aubrey Caroline, Bryce Thomas, and Declan Andrew, all who his face would immediately light the room up with. Also surviving are his siblings; Frank Lyles, Rosa Bailey, and Judy Cliborne. Gene also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his beautiful daughter, Angie Lyles Nelson (Joe). The family finds comfort in knowing they are finally reunited with each other.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to Julie Duffey for her undevoted time of six years for sticking by his side and giving him the best care possible.
