George “Jiggs” Avner Adams

October 15, 1931 — July 18, 2017

George A. “Jiggs” Adams, 85, of 657 Colemans Ferry Road, Saxe, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy T. Adams; sons, Terry Ray Adams (Jeanne) of Chase City and G. Malcolm Adams of Keysville; daughters, Mitzi A. Palmer (Ray) of Saxe, and Susan J. Adams of Keysville; one brother, Billy Adams of Drakes Branch; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther A. and Pattie R. Adams; one granddaughter; four brothers; and two sisters.

“Jiggs” was a retired employee of Westpoint Stevens of 52 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.   “Jiggs was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, and baseball.

Reverend Justin Hicks will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017, in Lebanon United Methodist Church, Drakes Branch, VA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bacon District Fire Department or the Charlotte County Rescue Squad. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
