Grace Eleanor Tharpe Hall got her wish to be with the Lord peacefully at her home late Thursday evening, November 14, 2024. Born April 17, 1928, to the late Mary D. and Nelson Tharpe. She was predeceased by her husband Harris; siblings, Pauline, Gladys, Irving, Lillian, and Lorena; cousin Ella; grandson Scott; and great-grandson Gage; and niece Susan.
She lived a wonderful ninety-six years full of working in the yard, cooking, taking care of her family and serving her church. She was a lifelong member of Lebanon church where she met (through Youth Group) and married her husband of fifty-six years S. Harris Hall. She worked faithfully in her church serving as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and a member of the United Women’s Society. Alongside many special friends and family, she helped with lots of fundraising activities. Other than Grace she was affectionately known by many names but most often referred to as “Granny Grace”.
Grace is survived by her children, Clint Hall (Sherry), Randy Hall (Beth), and Lisa Wallace (James) all of Drakes Branch; grandchildren, C. H. Hall (Cortney), Shannon Hall (Tammy), Derrick Hall (Lucy), Amanda Mountcasel, Christopher Mountcasle, Rick Hall (Nikki), Mitch (or Alan as she called him) Hall (Jessica), Jesse Wallace (Brigitte), and Thomas Wallace (McKenzie); great-grandchildren, Christian Hall, Austin Hall (Chesney), Morgan, Justin, and Seth Hall, Landon and Logan Hall, Gracie Hall, Hensley and Cole Hall, and Ashton Wallace; her beloved baby sister, Nancy Adams; and special family members Vicky J. Hall and Liz O. Hall; and a beloved “bunch” of nieces and nephews.
Grace was loving cared for by her family, as well as Centra Southside Community Hospital Staff and Centra Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 18, 2024, in Lebanon Church, Drakes Branch, VA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service in the Church Fellowship Hall. The family will also be receiving friends at her home at all other times. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
