James Claude Taylor

July 15, 1945 — January 14, 2021

James (Jimmy) Taylor died on January 14, 2021, due to complications from Covid.  He was 75 years old. Jimmy was born on July 15, 1945, and resided in Charlotte County, Virginia. He was a long time member of Bethel Baptist Church.  He graduated from Randolph Henry High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.   He was also a long time employee of Archer Creek Foundry.  Jimmy was best known as a Coach for Phenix Dixie Youth, which was his passion in life.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgie-Anna Vanhorn Taylor.  He is survived by three sons, Fred Vanhorn and wife, Robin, of Lynchburg, Virginia, James (Chuck) Taylor and wife, Kelly, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and George (Jay) Taylor and wife, Anissa, of Charlotte Court House, Virginia.  Jimmy also had seven grandchildren, whom he cherished.  In addition, he is survived by a sister, Marie St. John, of Phenix,Virginia.

A private family graveside service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church.  Memorial contributions can be made to Phenix Dixie Youth Inc., P. O Box 311, Phenix, VA 23959. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
