Josephine “Jo” Whirley

Josephine “Jo” Whirley, age 85, of Keysville, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Frank and Mary Foster Leatherwood; her son, Marvin Edward Whirley, Jr.; two sisters; and one brother.

“Jo” is survived by her husband, Marvin Edward Whirley, Sr.; one daughter, Pam Yates and husband, Harold; two sons, Randy Whirley and wife, Priscilla, Ronnie Whirley and wife, Diane; seven grandchildren, Jessica Fariss and husband, Gavin, Josh Whirley and wife, Renae, Kendall Whirley, Kayla Whirley, Daryl Lawson, Shawn Yates and wife, Kim, Lucas Whirley and wife, Andrea; five great-grandchildren, Camden Whirley, Courtlyn Whirley, Chandler Whirley, Layla Yates, and Baelynn Newbill; and one sister, Elizabeth Lyles.

“Jo” enjoyed spending time gardening and she loved her flowers. She was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA.  The family will receive friends at the gravesite one hour prior to the funeral service and at the home at all other times.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
