Joyce Midkiff Johnson

Joyce Midkiff Johnson “Nanny”, age 87, of Keysville, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born on September 7, 1937, to the late Estel and Sarah Midkiff. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Johnson; two sons, Randy Johnson and an infant son; two grandsons, Chris D. Johnson and Andy Johnson; a sister, Jenny Midkiff; and two brothers, Preston ” Bud” Midkiff and Leroy Midkiff.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Sandy Riepe (Alan Pearce); three grandchildren, Aimee Hudson (Sam), Jessica Hall (Mitch), and Creigh Riepe (Sarah); five great-grandchildren, Chris Johnson (Madison), Sarah Dixon (Jacob), Gracie Hall, Florence Riepe, and Eliza Riepe.

A woman of grace, strength and unwavering love, Joyce Johnson touched the lives of all who knew her. Known for her kind spirit and generous heart, she was a constant source of warmth, wisdom and compassion. Her strength was unmatched, and her nurturing soul provided comfort for her family and friends alike. Whether it was through her thoughtful words, her unspoken acts of kindness, or her gentle touch, she always made those around her feel loved and cherished.

Joyce, or Nanny as she was called by friends and family, dedicated her life to the people she cared for, and her love for her family was boundless. She leaves behind family and friends, each of whom will carry a part of her legacy with them.

In 2008 she retired from the US Postal Service in Keysville VA where she worked as a clerk for many years.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, with interment to follow in Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
