Joyce Tharpe Nichols

Joyce Tharpe Nichols, 73, of Drakes Branch, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015. She was a loving and devoted, sister, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She was a strong willed lady who never gave up on life or her children. She will be missed by many friends and family. She was the daughter of the late Kermit Tucker Tharpe and Lilly Irene Royster Tharpe. She is survived by three children, Barry W. Dixon and wife Merrianne, Brian K. Nichols and friend Diane Trent, Robin N. Mason and husband Travis. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Dixon and Morgan and Benjamin Mason. She was preceded in death by her brother Kermit David Tharpe. She leaves to cherish her memories four brothers Marshall Wade “Lit” Tharpe, James R. Tharpe and wife Ann, Harold B. Tharpe and wife Margaret C. and Curtis W. Tharpe and wife Margaret G. She also leaves behind a special friend Jennings J.C. Breeden and a dear niece Judy Forlines among many other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of James and Ann Tharpe, Friday, August 14, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. Her services will be held at Lebanon United Methodist Church Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the funeral at the home of James and Ann Tharpe. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of arrangements.
