Lorena T. Tharpe

Lorena T. Tharpe, age 98, of Drakes Branch, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mary Tharpe of Saxe, VA.

Lorena was the widow of David L. “Dick” Tharpe; she was also preceded in death by a son, David Irving Tharpe; three sisters, Pauline Tharpe (Bill), Gladys Crutchfield, and Lillian Langford; and one brother, Irving “Puss” Tharpe.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Tharpe of Keswick, VA, Jerry Tharpe of Drakes Branch, VA, George Tharpe (Marsha) of Randolph, VA; two sisters, Grace Hall of Drakes Branch, VA, Nancy Adams of Saxe, VA; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Lorena was an active member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions mask and social distancing is required. The family will receive friends at the home at all times.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Foundation, c/o George Tharpe, P. O. Box 36, Drakes Branch, VA 23937. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
