Maurine O’Brien Hockman

Hockman, Maurine O’Brien, 91, formerly of West Point, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Hockman, Jr. Her parents James Howard O’Brien and Nettie Conner O’Brien; stepmother Margaret Smith O’Brien; brothers Clyde O’Brien (Ellen), James O’Brien (Frances), Wyatt O’Brien; half-brothers Dickie O’Brien (Sylvia) and Tommy O’Brien. Sisters Ouida O’Brien Persinger (Owen), Eloise O’Brien Burnett (Omer), Claudine O’Brien.  She is survived by her daughter Alison Hockman Freeland and her husband Joe Freeland; two grandsons Nathaniel Freeland and wife Rachael of Cape Cod, MA and Conner Freeland of Charleston, WVA. Her sister Nelwyn O’Brien Smith of Appomattox; sisters-in-law Nelly O’Brien of Chase City, Joanne O’Brien of Appomattox and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside memorial service for Maurine will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017, at 11:30, at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
