Pearl Townsend Tharpe

Pearl Townsend Tharpe, age 85, of Gretna, VA passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her first husband Grayson O. Townsend; a son, David Lee Townsend; a granddaughter Crystal Lee Townsend; two brothers, Henry and James Bailey. Pearl is survived by her husband, Arthur R. Tharpe, three sons, Ray Townsend and wife, Joylynn of Indianapolis, Indiana, Alan Townsend and wife, Phyllis of Abilene, VA; Glen Townsend of Keysville, VA; a daughter Carolyn Dykes and husband, Howard of Gretna, VA; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the Cool Springs Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the home of Alan and Phyllis Townsend, 10515 County Line Road, Charlotte C.H., VA 23923. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
