Rawton Cawley Layne

Rawton C. Layne age 77, of Charlotte Court House, VA, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012. Rawton was born on May 10, 1934, in Red House, VA, and son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John W. Layne. He was a Sgt., U S Army Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Ellen Maxwell Layne; four sons, Rawton C. Layne, Jr., and his wife, Tammy, M. Scott Layne and his wife, Kim, John Layne, and Forrest Layne and his wife, Beth; one grandchild, Joel Layne; four brothers, Sam, John, Jack, Claude; and three sisters, Evelyn, Ellen, and Ruth.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012, in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
