Richard Forrest Scott “Scotty”

Richard Forrest Scott, “Scotty,” age 88, of Charlotte C.H., VA, died peacefully at home on August 10, 2017. He was born July 8, 1929, in Greensboro, NC, to the late Roland Scott and Bessie Tennison.  In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Laporte and Sue Bryan.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Tackett Scott; five children, Tony M. Scott, of Albuquerque, NM, Rick R. Scott of Iowa, Diana L. Matthews (Glen) of Charlotte C.H., VA, Bobby J. Scott (Renee) of Anaheim, CA, and Trena A. Moyers of Charlotte C.H., VA; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Ronald Scott; and a sister, Gwen Hubbard, both of Boise, ID.  He was a Staff  Sergeant of the United States Air Force where he served 14 years (Japan, Korean War, and the Azores Islands).

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, in the Cullen Baptist Church, 202 Taro Road, Cullen, VA, with Pastor Guy Stockslager officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the home, 1182 Patrick Henry Ave., Charlotte C.H., VA.  Any flowers or donations may be sent to the home address.  The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone associated with Hospice.  The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
