Robert M. “Bobby” Hammock Jr.

Robert M. Bobby Hammock, Jr., age 86, departed this life on January 13, 2015. He was the oldest of twelve children of the late Robert M. and Gertrude R. Hammock. He is survived by Martha D. Hammock his wife of sixty-four years and his son, Steven W. Hammock. He was a US Army Veteran stationed in occupied Japan after World War II, where he served as the flag bearer for General Douglas McArthur. He was a member of Ledbetter Christian Church where he served as Deacon and Board Member.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, in Ledbetter Christian Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery Meherrin, VA. The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, on Friday, January 16, 2015, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Meherrin Fire and Rescue or the Lunenburg Health Services. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
