Thomas Hughes “Tom” Francis

Thomas Hughes “Tom” Francis, age 76, of Drakes Branch, VA, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Dunaway Francis. Tom is survived by four children, Malcolm Francis (Teresa), Tommy Francis (Deanna), Amy Newcomb (Carl), and Jennifer Hailey (Frank); six grandchildren, Holly Carwile, Justin Francis, Joshua Newcomb, Kimberly Francis, Matthew Owen, and Taylor Newcomb; three great-grandchildren, Landon and Liam Newcomb, Jonah Carwile; one brother, Wiley Francis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the following caregivers, Azelle “Maxine” Blackwell, Donna Smith, Mary Hodges, Pat Holt, Sandra Crute and Tammy Webber; also to the Hospice of Virginia care workers, Cynthia “Cindy” Manner, Della Gibson, and Jim Price.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2019, at Friendship Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
