Virginia ‘Ginny’ Stegall Amos of Keysville, Virginia, passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 3, 1937, in Macon, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Stegall and Annie Ruth Shearin Stegall.
Throughout her life, Virginia experienced both triumphs and tragedies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roer Tredway Amos; and two children: daughter, Tina Seamster Spain and son, Raymond ‘Rainbo’ Scott. Despite these losses, Virginia remained a pillar of strength to her family.
Virginia retired from the telephone company in Richmond after years of dedicated service, but found new purpose when she opened Ginny’s Kitchen. Known for serving some of the best fried chicken in town, her establishment became a local favorite. Following its closure, Virginia continued to channel her passion for nurturing others through babysitting—a pursuit that brought her immense joy. Each child held a special place in her heart. Virginia’s legacy is one of love and commitment that resonates deeply among those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Shelby Seamster (Vicki); step-daughter, Patsy Bindley; grandson, Shelby A. Seamster all of Midlothian, VA; sister-in-law, Ola Marie Amos of Keysville, VA; nephew, Steve Amos of Meherrin, VA; niece, Tracey Amos of Floyd, VA; great-nephew, Steven Amos (Rebecca) of Lexington, VA; great-niece, Amanda Snodgrass (Billy) of Clover, VA; and the light of her life, great-grandnephew, E.G. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
